Meet Winnie, a 1.5-year-old Shih Tzu X Poodle looking for a loving, calm, patient forever home. Winnie came into our care after a change of circumstances in her previous home, and she’s currently in a foster home where she’s feeling more comfortable after the overwhelming experience of kennel life.

Winnie would thrive best as the only dog in her home, though with time and confidence-building, she could potentially enjoy social dog walks with calm and well-behaved pals. She’s not a fan of cats and would be most suited to a home with children over 10, who are dog-savvy and calm.

Winnie loves the outdoors and will need a secure private garden with a 5ft boundary where she can run and zoomie around safely. She’s housetrained, crate trained, and settles well in her crate at night. Walks are one of her favorite things, walking nicely on a harness and lead and taking in all the amazing smells on offer.

Due to her nervous nature—likely from limited socialisation—Winnie will need a family that understands her need for reassurance and patience. Once she bonds with you, she’ll look to you for comfort and support. She quickly forms strong bonds with her carers and loves interacting with toys, which help build her confidence. Winnie has so far, had very little experience of being left alone, so any new family will need to introduce her to short periods of being left alone gradually once she’s settled into her new home.

As a Shih Tzu X Poodle, she will require regular grooming and professional visits to keep her coat healthy and well-maintained.

If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who needs time to blossom in a calm, stable environment, Winnie might be the perfect match for you.

Could you offer her the forever home she’s been waiting for?
